Well we finally made it to Santiago, we actually landed @ 0930. Now for the rest of the story………
Well the last time I wrote, we were stuck in Mexico City. Well the first flight we were on standby and didn’t get out. So we got a hotel on Friday. Here are a couple of pictures at the airport and hotel.
We didn’t do much, laugh we did go shopping…. laugh we actually ended up in of all places…a Wal-Mart. We had been looking for shampoo and conditioner.
On Saturday we almost made it out of Mexico City. We were actually at the gate; well that was a story in itself.
When we were at the counter of Aero México and we said that we had two dogs, don’t they need to go to aircraft from here (meaning ticket counter)? They said no go to gate…? Well we tried that and was stopped by security and asked where the dogs boarding pass were? We told them that at the ticket counter said to bring them to gate. Well they talked …. Susan went back to counter… she came back, stated same and asked us to wait. We were getting worried as was getting close to take off time. Well they finally said we could go. Well we got to the gate and guess what? They asked why we have the dogs, well we told them same story… while they called to find out why we had the dogs with us, and other passengers for the plane came to the gate to board the plane….
The next thing you know there is a small riot… not really but close to it as there were some very angry passengers at the gate, as Susan and I were waiting to see what they were going to do about the dogs, about 15 other people were waiting to board aircraft. Next thing the gate attendants are saying is aircraft is full and the passengers all want to know how this is possible, if we all had seat assignments. I turned around and looked and at some point I guess the gate attendants felt threaten as there was a Mexico Federal Polica there. Well we all left gate area and went back to the ticket counter. I stayed with the dogs and Susan went and talked to the agents.
Well after 2 hours, Susan finally comes back. Well now they have us flying from Mexico City to Panama City, Panama and then to Santiago. We also have a free hotel room, three meals and two round trip tickets to anywhere Aero México fly’s. Well I told Susan, I didn’t think we could do this, because of the dogs. Well she went back again… and then changed us to go from Mexico City to Lima, Peru to Santiago. I said I thought that we could only flight straight thru to Santiago because of the dogs. She said no it was ok… so we went to the hotel to get some sleep, 3 hours to be exact. We were in a really beautiful hotel, The Century Hotel; here are some pictures we took

Well so we get on the plane and off we go, no longer homeless airport people,J. Well now it seems things are looking up… but then pilot announces that we are going to have to stop in Acapulco, Mexico for fuel due to weather, as they had not put on enough fuel in Mexico City. Oh this can’t be happening again. Well sure enough it almost was, they held the plane in Lima for us, as we are getting off in the plane, and they are pushing us to the next gate. We get to the gate and said that we may have to wait for next flight as aircraft was not configured for pets..???? Then they asked for ticket and we told them that we didn’t have ticket and were told to get them when we landed in Lima. Boy have we heard this before. So we are waiting and the rest of our group comes along and the next thing you know, they are unable to get on flight for some reason. Well they tell us we can get on next flight, which is about 45 minutes later. So, off to the next gate we go. They are boarding the plane; Susan and I are told we can get on the plane plus three other people. Well as we are waiting for whatever reason, three people show up. So they say we are still on, but only one more person from the group. Well, that entire group elected to stay, so off we go to Chile.
We landed in Santiago, Chile, and the baggage department was not able to find or 9 pieces of luggage from the AeroMéxico flight, so we went through customs after paying $140 each to enter the country, not sure why US has to pay the most. We got transportation and arrived at the apartment finally.
Well it’s taking me awhile to update. So I will post this and try to update on a regular basis.
Adios
